Compilation of Chrome news
Just two days after the release of Google Chrome, their new browser, everyone has been doing benchmarks, publishing charts, and doing news analysis. The bottom line is that everyone agrees it’s still an early product, but depending on who you ask, anything else is up in the air.
Yesterday, Read My Mind published this chart of JavaScript speed between the various browsers:
This shows Chrome’s new V8 JavaScript engine is really fast. But today, ArsTechnica published Mozilla results comparing their new engine, with a new chart:
But going past the JavaScript engine, InfoWorld has a head to head comparison of IE8 with Chrome, noting that they both take a multi-thread approach, compared with Firefox’s lean single-process experience.
Then there’s the whole EULA controversy. Basically, Chrome has the standard Google license which allows them to record and reuse everything you submit to any web site while using Chrome. But today, Google came back and said they didn’t intend it that way and will change it.
The saga continues, and will probably keep producing charts, graphs, analysis and random editorial posts like this one, providing something to do for analysts and pundits alike.
